And the guys who do that will do it regardless if it's legal or not. Just like I'm sure there are a handful of drivers that roll with a 3 or 4 beer buzz.realdesertkickin Thanks this.

I knew a couple of drivers who smoked as well, both o/o's , and they both been retired for a few years now. It will be nice someday when the topic cools down, to see some unbiased study results, hope I live that long, lol.Badmon, llsnemesis, roadmap65 and 2 others Thank this.

Meh, gettin kinda tired of hearin bout it all myself...
When I hopped back onto local (dumptruck backhoe) it was funny to see beer cans and crap in the trucks, opposite of the LTL I left...found roaches, cigarettes, little liquor bottles
stupid stuff...my first week, as i transistioned thru thier fleet, i was hauling beer cans and trash from the truck to the trash everydam morning untill I had been in every truck... -
When I started in 1974 most of the drivers I knew used something. Cross-top whites and pot predominated.
When drug testing began, several drivers I knew quit driving rather than quitting pot.
It's my totally subjective opinion that we were all safer drivers than the great majority of the ones I see out here today.
It's a stone cold fact that we had a hell of a lot more fun!Badmon, AfterShock, okiedokie and 3 others Thank this. -
I'll never understand why people mess around with dope. To me it's not worth throwing away a good paying job and potentially screwing yourself for the future. Either get it out of your system while you're still in highschool or wait until you've retired.
Besides that, if you need drugs to have fun, you aren't doing life properly.Dreamboat, The Professional One and BeanDip Thank this. -
Haven't heard any one say Cross-tops in years. That term went away about the same time we lost our Bingo Stamps.

I agree. The risks, as they are now, are too great to make a a few bong rips worth the gamble.
As far as "needing" drugs to enjoy life... Plenty of folks smoke or drink occasionally, socially, and for entertainment. I liken in to salt and pepper. I can enjoy a quality 2 inch thick Porterhouse, medium rare, with a good char. No seasoning required. Now put a little salt and pepper on it, and it is even better. And like so many other things, too much salt can lead to problems.Last edited: Aug 20, 2015
