While I agree they are a nessary part of the system, the fact remains that they are extremely deceptive. They employ a great deal of support staff that seems quite content to use abuse and discard any and all who cross thier path. You said it yourself. "Claim 50k first year" key word being "claim". Just look at the threads here, you have guys making 300 bucks a week, while being away from home, and are scared of their own company to such a degree that instead of going up the chain, they come here to commiserate amongst their brethren. We scream over and over, DONT PUT UP WITH IT! but they do. Only a driver from a bf company asks, "what do i do when i feel unsafe to drive but my dm says i have to go?"

Training company? No, they are not. McDonald's is not a training job is it? No, its fast, cheap, and forever at the high end of turnover because their business model relys on cheap labor to keep the margins up.

    Nessary? Yes. But bottom feeders.

In the eyes of the ATA, absolutely. They view you as sludge. You'd better view them as a toe step.

And be sure to watch out for the KoolAid drinkers.

AND to solve this is what?

I think it is easy, take the cdl written tests and make them harder, and make the road test a real test, not something my daughter can do when she was 16.

Then to take it a step further, get rid of the crackerjack authority, and get something where there is more to prove than just money in the bank and the ability to spell their names on the application.

I'm critical of this because I look around and it isn't just those mega companies but many among us who promote our own demise by having this really easy to get into as an owner. My competition isn't the guy who works for one of the large or mid-sized companies but those independent marginal operators.

I agree with this. Big companies are also lobbying at having immigrants as replacements. Those shoulder/ramp widening projects are for the 50k muslim immigrants that Obama approved to have them work as truck drivers (wikileaks). So in the near future, ill be expecting dot to wake me up and move out of the ramp cuz the driver behind me is going to do his 6th prayer of the day.

I think it means they do work for dirt cheap and make us all have to lower our rates. They take low paying gigs and as long as someone does it for that amount rates never go up.

"Bottom feeders" - of all things that is self explanatory - we have a discussion, or a desenter.

Got to love truckers. Can we agree on anything?

I think what you're trying to resolve is there a "guilt by association" connection between the new entrant drivers & the mega companies who by in large are the only one's who will hire them?

Just trying to figure out if drivers that are hired by the mega bottom feeding companies are considered dirt or scum or whatever because the bottom feeders as they are so called hire only the scum of the earth,,,,
