Yeah, if I had one, i'd keep it too. One thing that gives Apple an edge, IMO, is that they control the hardware and software. They have used that as an advantage in both security and performance. My guess is that your iPhone 7 is fast without any lagging. My 8+ certainly is.

It is, just like the day I bought it.

The laptop I just retired on the other hamd was to the point where loading itunes would take an eternity.

I would debate this. I have an iPhone XR. It’s the biggest piece of crap ever.

FYI... America make most of its stuff in China.
(yes, that needs to change as proven in 2020)

Good thing about people who keep them long term. It gets the latest software for at least 5 years. No one on Android does this. Not even google for their pixel line.

I can’t wait to see what they have coming after the switch from Intel Chips to Apple Silicon... they have been adding T2 chips in their Macs for a little bit, but that has only helped them attach features ... it will be interesting to see what they come up with after they create the whole System in a Single Chip.

The developer models shipped after WWDC had an A12Z Chip in it and that is basically a two year old Chip from the iPad lineup. Now we know why that A12 Chip seemed so over powered for an iPad... because it was intended to be their first Apple Silicon Chip... lol

Interesting Times... well, I’m my opinion... ;-)

Yeah, I’m in the camp that thinks it’s a good long term strategy for Apple. It will be good to see them ending reliance on Intel, seeing how that has been holding them back. Cross platform apps will be good too.

But at this current time I have a few apps that may or may not go native Apple silicon. Two of them are 32 bit, and that’s been holding me back from upgrading to Catalina as well. Luckily the primary apps I use, that I must have, will definitely be compiled on Apple silicon.

I won’t be an early adopter, but I’ll be buying one when the MacBook Pros get updated.
