DRedmon said in one of his few posts that 90% of the show is staged. Do you guys really think an employed driver on that show is going to come on THIS website to say that? Say it with me everybody: l-a-w-s-u-i-t.

I wonder how many dollars in damages the litigation team at A&E Televisions Networks (owns History) could figure that little comment to be worth.

And how do you figure that to be true? If he was saying facts, you would be right, but the 90% he claims is an astoundingly large number and I'm guessing he would have a very hard time quantifying that.

Not to mention the confidentiality agreements that undoubtedly exist.

There's also the fact that he told us all, the people who make up a huge percentage of that show's demographic, that we could go ahead and F ourselves but that's a completely different subject.

Yes. No. And a lazy driver will go from a tug test. A hook will pass a tug test if the jaws are mostly closed, yet fail when road strain is applied to it. Therefore, you get a flashlight, duck under the trailer, shine it into the 5th wheel opening from behind and check the locking bar is completely closed across the back of the kingpin and locked around the shank...the part of the kingpin that dips in, like a waistline. It is possible for the 5th wheel to lock on the head of the kingpin (the wider part at the bottom) and pass a tug test, yet the trailer "float" out of the 5th wheel going down the road. You are looking to be sure there is no space between the 5th wheel and trailer saddle and, finally, that the 5th wheel pull handle is fully in. All of this takes less than 5 seconds.

If there is a problem, wind the landing gear down, unhook and try again. I hooked to an empty trailer that was sitting at an angle to my 5th wheel. One of the feet had sunk in the mud. I could not get it to seat properly after two tries. I pulled it forward slowly and carefully, out of the hole it was sitting in, dropped the landing gear and dropped/hooked again. The trailer seated correctly and I was safe to roll.

Customtanks' life, that of his family and the lives of everyone around me are worth far more to me than that little bit of time spent doing it right and then checking my work.

It is staged you can tell most of it but some of it they do a pretty good job
But non the less it's entertainment and that's why they broadcast it
And having a bad guy is always a good thing ... Everyone on the show can't play the good guy .. You got to have a bad guy

If you notice when a Dave part of the show is coming on it's out of a break with a preview before the break

Why ? Because they don't want you to turn that channel ... That's why and controversy sells ... Dave brings that to the show

It's all about RATINGS ...
RATINGS gets AD spots and AD spots =$$$$
