I havent personally painted anything since around 2009,.. I found a place that does a pretty decent job for about the same as what it would cost me to do it. All I have to do is block sand it to make sure the body is smooth and ding free. Pull any body panels off if I want it painted that way. They do a final finish sand and do a pretty decent job rubbing and buffing it all out when done.
Thats a pretty sweet looking Jag. I'm not a big fan of some of the later Jags,.. I'm more of an XK or XKE kind of guy. Love the long 6 with a tripple weber set up.
I like yours though,.. top down and just cruise. Very sweet ride!

I built this car for my son's 16th birthday.
1990 Mustang LX. It had been around the block a few times. Motor had a bad knock. But the body was straight, rust free, interior was clean and not mangled. Would make a perfect project car.
This is how it looked when I first brought it home. Paid $800 originally for the car.
.
This bought a straight nose to replace the boogered up one on it.
My wife decided should would do the nose.
.
My wife is full of many talants.
.
Here I start tearing the car apart.
.
The stock 5.0 had a wiped out cam, crank wasnt in much better shape, cylinder walls were toast. Bought a 5.0 from a 1997 Ford Explorer, they have GT40 heads stock. Proceeded to convert it for use in the Mustang.
.
The stock motor had some decent 1.72 SVO rockers. I figured those with an F-303 cam, GT40 heads and Intake. Should make for a nice little screamer of a 302.
.
This is the Explorer motor coming back together.
.
My wife can not sit idle and watch,.. she is a very hands on person in all aspects of everything we do. We do it together.

Hurst, I don't know much about car restoration, but are those cars with salvage titles that you buy for dirt cheap?
dog-c Thanks this. -
id love to have a xke to play with but out of my price range. the xjs is still a surprisingly affordable car. paid $2250 for mine rust free good mechanical shape with kinda rough cosmetics. i like it because its a bit different not a car you see very often only and a very fun car to drive about 120k total cars made threw out the entire production run. the newer jags have no personality i would not want a newer one.
i had a fox body mustang before as well. that was another great bang for the buck car, kinda ugly cars imo but respectfully quick stock some heads cam ect and you got a pretty hot car.
when the woman got her current car she insisted that she wanted a black car, i tried to convince her otherwise we got her a 2-3 year old car that was black and looked pretty nice now that the car is 12 years old she says she will never have a black car ever again.
i did this one about a bit over a year ago
2003 chevy duramax not a total repaint but darn close to it, but new hood rear bumper front bumper repaired both bed sides from where trailers had been repeatedly jacknifed and front 1/4's were damaged. had a clean title but smashed up bought it cheap patched it up and sold it for a decent profit.

Car I did for my sone was basically a rolling chassis with a decent interior and tranny. Motor was junk. I told him it would cost me $2500 to have the motor done right. Truth was I bought junkyard 5.0 from a 97 Explorer for $200. I spent roughly $350 on gaskest, bearings, rings, water pump etc. The rest was all labor. In all I was into the car for roughly $2500 all said and done. That included new clutch, tires and wheels.
The key to buying a car is patience. Dont buy the first thing you see and always low ball. Always leave a number they can reach you. Sometimes they call back.. some times not. Even when the price is right.. I walk away like I am not that interested. Then let him sit on it for a week or two. Call to see if the car sold or not. If not.. I make my low ball offer.
Hurstdog-c and texasbbqbest Thank this. -
Hurst .this coming from someone who's wife has had me trying to put together some stupid cabinet for the past 4or5 weeks ...
It must be awesome to have a wife that does that LOL!!!!!Hurst Thanks this. -
I heard guys say to me that I should keep vehicles in my name in case we separate,.. or I should know what my wife does when I am out on the road or she is out for a night with friends. To me that is spoken by a guy who is preparing for relationship failure before even giving it a chance. If I need to be concerned with what my wife does when I am not around,.. I wouldnt stay married to her. Why stay with someone you dont trust or need to watch? I know people live this way and stay with people like this. I am not one of those people.
I originally married young at 22. Marriage ended in disaster. Took me a long time to trust someone enough to remarry. I never thought it would happen. Almost 8 years of booty calls and one night stands before my wife and I found each other. We both came with baggage and issues from previous marriages. I discovered that when you find the right person,.. none of it matters. Everything works like it should and just falls into place. I never truly believed that people actually had soul mates. Not the way you see it in the movies. My marriage is something most men can only dream about. I have never been happier.

My truck is at J&M in Ocala. They currently have a full workload for body work and can not get to my truck for 2 weeks. Sounds ridiculous,.. but I tried Freightliner in Orlando,.. I know better than to try Tampa,.. and there its a 4 week waiting list.
WTF is going on in this industry?
Seems to be a back load of damaged trailers and trucks. Its no wonder my insurance rates are sky high.
Having seen all of this,.. my entrepreneurial spirit cant help but wonder if opening a body shop for class 8 trucks and trailers wouldnt be a bad idea.
