Well it was actually 5.5 more hours. Considering his profile says he has less than a year along with a new rule that was just put into effect less than one month ago. I still say it is a simple mistake that many drivers are making with way more experience than he has. I am just tired of seeing rude comments being made to new drivers.
boy did i mess up

That's a far stretch while putting words into my mouth isn't it? What is so hard to comprehend I said a simple mistake many drivers are making? Where do I seem to imply everyone needs a refresher course on logging every time a rule change takes effect? I am done beating a dead horse with you or anyone else that attempts to read between the lines of what I am saying when it is clearly spelled out right in front of you. Have a nice day driver.

Well, Gee Wizz. I have been driving 23 and a half years, and most of that was using paper logs. I know the rules upside down, backwards, and inside out. I made the same mistake about 2 months ago. It did not involve the stupid "1 am to 5 am X2" rule, but I started the truck up, and moved it too early. I was just washing the truck, so I could head out an hour later. For some reason I had the wrong time in my head.
I guess some people here would say I don't know the rules of the game? I think I know the rules better than most.Klatu and Wanderingaimlessly Thank this. -
Many computer systems don't have warning of the consecutive 1-5 am rule. They do a good job of letting you know pretty much all other aspects of the new HOS rules, but it would be nice if they had a display showing the time that you would need to go back on duty in order to qualify for the new 34 restart.
I also had an issue with this, when I was tired and accepted a new load in the middle of what I thought would be a perfectly good 34 restart. I woke up to get ready to run and gun, and found that I hadn't qualified for the restart. Made perfect sense when I woke up and had a cup of coffee. Fortunately I had enough rolling hours to take the load, make delivery and keep on truckin' for the next week.
We all make some mistakes along the way, best to learn from them and avoid them in the future. -
Ghost Ryder Thanks this.
