Most of you can remember a time when there was no reset and you ran off your recap. A reset does not have to be done and it may be more costly sitting around for two days waiting for it rather than running off the recap.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Absolutely true, fuzzey. A reset is not necessary if you have enough rolling hours. The only time I take a reset is if I've run full or close to full 11's for several days in a row, bring my 70 down below 7, and have no hours coming back for a day or two. With OTR it is very difficult to do anything with only 7 hours to work with for 2-3 days.
Wait, there's another scenario... if I'm getting lowish on my 70 and due to dispatch I have an opportunity to take a few more hours off to get the 34, then by all means I may just go ahead and take the full 34. If I've been sitting and waiting for a load for a day, have a 1-5 already in there, then I'll just ask dispatch to put me on the board for 5 am the next morning.fuzzeymateo and Glp Thank this. -

BOY yall a helpful bunch--READ what the man said--He is NEW--he is covering people on vacation--he WAS CALLED in to work...in his shoes I wouldn't pass on the work either---so how about some help--especially to a man who admitted UPFRONT he messed up.......
Now to the OP--first question is how many hours were you on last week--puter said you only had 10 to go--BUT--No reason you cannot recap--PLEASE do not just rely on the puter if you are new--keep a running tally EVERY day--on paper so you are following it yourself--that way when you were dispatched--you could have said---
1-My restart will not be complete for x amount of more hours--what would you like me to do--I DO want to work........
2-Would it be Ok to wait until Midnight/--just half hour later--so I can put at least 1 zero on the last 8--Ill only have 10 for the day--but I will pick up another 12(or whatever) the next day
So BE proactive--keep track--know where you are and communicate--they will appreciate it in the long run and you will get used to it as time goes on--and if you are NOT sure--DO NOT be afraid to ask--call in--run it down with them and work together--remember they need that load moved--and they NEED to stay out of trouble--good lucktruckon Thanks this. -
It was know big deal with my company, I usually have the SAME runs EVERY week same times. I don't usually run that odd ball run, but I was covering a guy on vacation. I just wanted to warn the other new guys (thats why I posted in the new guy forum) to watch it, it's easy to mess up unintentually.

I still fail to see how you ######### up. It's not like you ran without hours.
Ghost Ryder Thanks this.
