Can't we just boycott anyone that uses a lumper? I mean, why the middle man? Why can't shipper/receivers pay decent wages to hard working folk at their own companies?

a few companies i worked for, paid lumper fee's.
as a driver, you should not have to lump your freight, that's what makes you tired. plus you can get hurt, then what would you do?Lite bug Thanks this. -
I have been boycotting them for 25 consecutive years and will continue to do so.
-
Because who else is gonna hire druggies, drunks, homeless and convicts on prison release programs for cheap labor.
Lite bug, Soltaker, TheLoadOut and 5 others Thank this. -
Yes, right after we boycott brokers and go on strike. So many things to do……….
Snailexpress, Lite bug, bzinger and 15 others Thank this. -
Better option is... start your own Lumper company and get filthy Rich ...
Deere hunter, Blagoje, Soltaker and 4 others Thank this. -
Go to home depot pickup a bunch of hombres take them to the grocery warehouse that charges like $300 to unload a truck, have the driver hire you for $200 pay hombre $100.
Competition keep everyone in check.
Just make sure hombre is illegal so if he gets hurt you won't have to deal with all of that, workers rights, hurt on the job, stuff..
Probably because it all gets reimbursed these days, but this got me thinking, if there's enough guys who eat the lumper fee and haul for an all-in rate, there would be a market for hiring your own lumper, good place for young industrious American just stand outside the gate in the morning, unload trucks make some cash. Bet it happened back in the day before everything is liability filled and nobody wants to actually earn a living anymore. -
