I hear ya, I've made personal stands against certain issues. Matter of fact, I believe my rant to Todd Spencer? (can't remember the name) the VP of OOIDA about canceling out the truck parking spaces when they expanded thier Headquarters actually worked since they now have parking spaces. Also I sent numerous letters to New York about thier special "Heavy Use Tax" and they no longer have it. Also I sent numerous letters to Oregon DOT about some DOT officers working the I-84 port of entry and from what I've heard they no longer work there. Granted it may just be coincedence about those issues that got resolved, but I strongly believe that the OOIDA and Oregon issues were because I brought the issues up. Matter of fact since I know some people in the area that have a little influence, I'm almost positive about the OOIDA issue. There will always be nay sayers that your voice doesn't count, but you can make a difference. Is $20 for teams to shower if they fuel or no fuel?

I honestly wish that there were more drivers like yourself that shared the same ideas. Unfortunately, people like you and I are probably considered pessimistic if we happen to voice our opinions based on what we see that goes on in this industry. Maybe people like us are a dying breed?
Whatever happened to a world where everyone looked out for each other? Not that the concept is really dead, I think that people have become extremely selfish and could care less about their fellow man/woman.rlmichael09 Thanks this. -
Your absolutely correct, They should have interfered with private enterprise even more and not allowed this travesty against the american driver to take place.
Why Obama and his team of experts should have come charging in and taken over more american owned business to prevent this great injustice.
It would have been far better for the american truckdriver to have the Flying J chain close its doors than to allow a merger with a company that is showing a profit, even if said company can not make good coffee. Now Denny's on the other hand makes a fine cup o crud there fore it would have been better for Denny's to purchase the failing fuel stop chain.
Better yet maybe we could have had the White Brothers come take over management of the flying J chain heading up the masterful Obama team.FriedTater Thanks this. -
Don't understand what you said or meant but I see you have been driving 30 years so I bow to your wisdom sir. But screw Pilot. -
I got to disagree with you. When there is only one option in the market you don't pay what it's worth: you pay what they dictate. That's not a fair market. Flying J truckstops is not what got that group in trouble it was that Transoprtation Alliance Bank who the Street.com rates as one of the worse in the country right now. It got reckless with loans in the mortgage industry and to companies like Arrow. It extended too much credit with the fuel card company it owned. The Government during the bankruptcy hearing wouldn't allow the J to split off because it was the only thing of value. It had to be "sold off" because a Government regulator said so (the bankruptcy judge). Pilot was not the only company to try to buy the J either: Magellan Midstream Partners who got their pipeline and refining operations offered cash money 350 Million, Pilot gave $300-500 million equity stake in Pilot. That's not cash money the creditor would have liked to have it was bonds of pilot and I doubt if it is even 300 million when a true net worth is applied to this mess with all the revamps of the resteraunts to the J and loss of fuel sales to Independents that made the J. BP and Phillips both made bids to that didn't get disclosed the judge didn't pick the highest he picked the company he thought could make J profitable when in fact they already were, it was the bank holdings that ###### them.
Think about this if the Pump price says $3.00 Cash and 3.09 credit and you buy with credit that's a surcharge of 9 cents a gallon. The big boys don't pay that, they get approx .20 cents or more off cash price. They are getting their fuel 10-15% discounted on what a smaller company pays. they are self insured and unregulated abou the bond requirement, Governemnt never checks to see if the millions are there Arrow was proof of that when they closed doors defaulting on millions in accident claims alone that were never paid out or intended to be paid. They insure unproven less than 2 year drivers for nothing making the lower end wages of the industry via those bonds that the Government never checks. Soon the Mega carriers will have it all, they got most of the brokerage now. Those companies don't want you sir because of your past, you have been in this Industry for too long and remember when a truck driver made a great living not the 28,000 a year in Bottom feeder INCs needs to run you out with. It's 28,000 a year the Perdiem if added pushes it up to around 32,000
