seems like hearing a lot of good bout melton, but I was always under the impression that boyd was the beter company cause voted a top carrier and all that jazz. Ya melton has that 4day noobie training, boyd takes that to a full 2 weeks which is kinda annoying, but they both sound very similar after talking to both today.

Here's the thing about Meltons training, it gives you a general idea on how to do each type of load. Every load you do is going to be different, even if its the same stuff. I guess you could spend 2 or 3 days going over how to chain coils, but to me that would be a waste of time. What they did at orientation is tell you in the class room, show you coils done right, then let you ( in small groups ) do it your selves.

I don't work for Melton, never did. My husband worked for them and I rode along ( ok I did more than just sit pretty.) Did we have issues, well yes, but that doesn't mean it's a bad company. We mostly had good miles and when we didn't it was weather related.

Boyd may be a better company, but I don't know nothing about them, so have no opinion.

Melton has been voted a top carrier also.....

Orientation is 4 days, then you're on the road with a trainer, for up to 2 weeks, depending on experience...they do put some experienced drivers behind the wheel right away tho.
