I've got my method now. Next time I'll know what to do. Wasted half of my day light screwing around trying to get them on. Still don't know how I managed to get that first one on like I did. It's much easier to hook the spring with the s-cam rollers not installed, then pry apart and put them in. 3 done and one almost back together I'll finish it in the morning.

For the outside springs, I like to hook the top shoe first and push down with a pair of vice grips to get in the bottom hole. My first time doing it, I struggled with a big flathead screwdriver and I remember cussing it to.

don't forget to clean all the corrosion off of the hub where the drum centers on it...here in Canada or where they use road salt it corrodes enough that the drum will not center properly causing a vibration, especially on brake application....cheers!!

I lay the top shoe in then hook the outside springs on before putting the bottom shoe in place. They just fall into the holes on the top and bottom shoe. Then flip the bottom shoe up into place. Do this without the s-cam rollers installed. Scotch the bottom shoe with something. Then hook the one big spring on the inside. Still need to push it on with a big screwdriver but not near as bad without the s-cam rollers in there. Then pry on the shoes and install rollers.

I'm always real picky about clean mating surfaces. I imagine this is why when I recheck torque on the lugnuts they are always good and never need re-torqued.

I hook the big spring on the inside before laying the shoes on. A little maneuvering on the rollers, and then vice grips on the outside springs. Like the other guy said, there are many ways to do brakes.

Yeah I did the last one that way. Turns out that was the quickest way. I'll tell you what though. This darn trailer has never pulled so smoothly as now. It's amazing the difference. The original carrier who bought it new was "AmeriCo Carriers" and they put cheap Chinese drums on it when they got rid of it. I put a set of American made balanced cast drums, Fleetpride brand "OTR" and it's unreal how much better she rides. No shaky out of balance feel. I've got to update my pics with the new shoes and my ad in classifieds. It's ashamed I'm getting rid of it. My whole unit just glides down the highway. I knew those #### drums were causing balance issues I should have chucked them.long ago.
