The breakaway stoplight switch is designed to kick on the brake lights if the trailer supply line breaks off and looses psi. It also was wired to light brakes up when parked with key on. Back in the day 99% of them had been disconnected because they would cause light lenses to melt when parked while resting with engine running.

Hey brother thanks for coming in on this, i replaced the switch it’s brand new just to make sure and your right I think the air is the issue because I took off the wires to the switch while it’s on the block and it’s still showing a connection with the ohms test so it’s getting air from somewhere and if you remember we spoke a little while back about those airlines I’m pretty sure I got them all back together with the schamatic but I guess I’ll check again but this issue has been since I bought the truck so maybe the previous owner had his hands on the airlines too I’ll give that a check again though

Yes but I do not want to say what yours should be. I work on many different things and different companies do things different ways. L9000 today with brake warning light on dash. Switches for that are normally closed. Open at about 65 PSI. One of them was bad. I thank a Columbia is normally open. Have to search them out and test them.

Did you ever figure out why your brake lights wouldn’t turn off? I’m having the same problem.
