Ever gone to change out a brake pot. Everything comes apart fine til you get to the clevis pins. They're free inside the slack but seized solid in both sides of the yoke. Cotter pins too. Real bearcat job to get out. I was just thinking if every time a guy is under there greasing etc. If you took a pair of needle nose and give the cotter pin and clevis pin a spin it would sure pay off at pot change time. Anybody tried this? I know I'm going to from now on.

Wouldn't hurt I suppose.......A Torch is your best friend in truck repair,Or just cut the Pins on both sides with a cut off tool and replace the $1.29 Clevis

Every. ####. Time. They are ALWAYS seized into the clevis. I started coating them in anti seize when I install them now. IIRC you can get pins with a hex head on them. Makes them easier to bust loose.

I just heat the heads up cherry red and work them loose with vice grips as they cool. Usually come right out.

Oh and I wish clevises were that cheap. Picked up 2 for Rockwell slacks a couple weeks ago. $14 each.

noluck and 04 LowMax Thank this.

You're right on the price NM. Also on the hex head but just the big one. Little one still round. I used the torch too but its real easy to burn the rubber boot on the slack not to mention getting the grase burning inside of it.

    noluck Thanks this.

This is what I'm going to start using. Mine are always seized up when I go to change a can.

I may be wrong but it looks like the grease exit port is in the middle only where the slack adj would ride and that's not where they are seizing.

Yes the grease is just going to the middle only. If it gets greased quite frequently it should spread to the outside as well.

I haven't tried them yet to see if it works but it's got to be better then just a solid pin and no grease.

@snowman_w900 has been using them and runs in the toughest salt conditions in the winter and has good luck with them.

04 LowMax and snowman_w900 Thank this.
