This is a very easy decision! My favorite truck was always the one that I was PAID to drive, and the expenses on the truck were paid by the company that I worked for!
Brand Loyalty.

What's the fun in that? I might actually get to take a non-working vacation once in a while is all I could think of

Sometimes we love trucks not for engines.
I like Actros for good cabin, I love Volvo, becouse it is not cold inside.
But my choise is related with ROI time, parts and maintanance cost, parts accebility. Yep, Peterbilt is better, but Russian roads are really bad and it is not so easy find broken leafspring of exotic design in distant place. Parts for Century Class is available every 100 miles on highway.
Mack Vision with v-mac engine (like on old Magnum) is a good truck till you hit its hood!!!! Volvo headlamps are exepencive and may easily be broken with stones on russian roads. Headlamp for Columbia, Century class, Classic, for International are very popular and cheap!
So you understand why we use trucks we do not like to drive! -
It is really hard to develop any brand loyalty these days. With all the emissions junk and such and how it is put together by the OEM's. There really isn't any brand or model that inspires me. I am more inspired to do a frame up restoration on the one I have. Not that it is the greatest truck, but it sure more reliable than any of the trucks coming off the lines now. And I can do a complete frame up for roughly $70-$80K.

I don't need to tell you my vote, it's in the name, I'm not a fan of the newer 6 cylinder models with egr and envoirnmental crap on them but the v8's are still legends, I would be jealous of a big cab pete or another American premium brand if I had to spend a weekend in a truckstop somewhere but if it's power, durability, fuel economy and driving pleasure you are after it's gotta be Scania v8 ! Doubt I'll get too many fellow voters on this forum but that's my vote

I like your signature note, monty phyton/true

You haven't given me a brand to tick! If obama can say he's Irish then I reckon I'm entitled to a scania choice! Or I should say o'bama
papa1953 Thanks this. -
what kinda torq do your v8 have scania man just asking im a cat guy myself
-
O'bama is IRISH???? Oh yeah, and Clinton was black. . .
Haven't seen this here Scania you are talking about. I'm guessing it is not on the American Market. Which makes me wonder why it isn't. Did they forget to grease the right palms, or what? -
I never was completely impressed with Paccar products. The 387 was a decent compromise, but still not what I was looking for.
I didn't like the hoods as far as driving one. Not enough maneuverability for what I was doing and I was always paranoid I would get into a pickle I couldn't get out of. Additionally, I found them lacking for interior room.
Volvo was okay but I wasn't impressed with the sleeper area.
Freightliner had my vote until they got rid of Columbia and 60 Series motors. Well, until they reported and weakened the head, anyway. I just don't trust DD15 yet. It still has a lot of bugs to work out and still needs road proof for me.
I can't drive around all day looking up a dog's arse.
Scania is not widely available in the States.
Western star has many of the same shortcomings as Paccar products do.
But this CornBinder has been a money maker, reliable (excpet the A/C) has always made the delivery, the Cummins motor is not nearly as thirsty as some of the others I've seen, it's a smooth ride, quiet, spacious interior (after removing the top bunk) and livable. Yep. Like my S***Spreader.
