I bought a brand new Cascadia MY 2022 6 months ago. I drive on mostly flat ground in the midwest, with little crosswinds, and midweight loads in a dryvan, and I have been averaging barely 7mpg, never getting any better than that. I drive efficiently (62mph, gentle acceleration etc) and still get awful fuel economy. I get no check engine lights or error codes, and the dealer doesn't want to do anything to help me. Most O/Os in the company I work at get at least 8mpg or better in their new Cascadias.

What is your spec's on the truck? This could be your problem! Also any loss/leaks could cause some of the issue as well.

How is your trailer?Pulling the same one or different trailers? We bought a used trailer and could tell on the first trip it needed some work, needed bearings and new hub oil.The fuel mileage dropped from 8.5 to 6.

How many miles you got on it? Some have to get broke in a little before it starts improving fuel mileage.

I have a 2022 Volvo. I was getting about 7.5 +/- until it got about 50,000 on it. Now I'm getting around 8. I'm running 68 and I'm all the way to the floor. I drive a little harder than you it sounds like.

One of my co-workers drive like an old man (nothing wrong with that)... easy on the take off & about 65 on the road. He is getting almost 9.

I figure you just gotta get through the break in period.

I have a 2.85 axle ratio, automatic transmission, and I do not idle. It does consume more oil than I'd like but I don't know if that has anything to do with the fuel economy. Also according to a compression test some cylinders are at 100% but there is one with 91% and another at 93%. Again, don't know if that affects fuel consumption.

I'm past 50 000 miles or a break in period so it can't be related to that.

I'm always pulling different trailers so it can't be a trailer related issue.

How much oil is it consuming? Being a new truck I would be very worried about something like that.

Is a new truck similar to a fresh rebuild.?

Could be internet folklore, but I thought on a newly rebuilt engine it needs to be run hard, & few good hills with some weight on the get the piston rings fully set in..

Is that the case with a brand new engine as well?

I'd try mashing on it for a few days with the heaviest loads you get to see if it helps. Then go back to easing along for economy..
