Go the community college route. That one day school won't help much, if any.
As for local jobs, they're there, but you have to be aggressive and knock on doors, make personal visits to the terminals and talk to the terminal manager, not some driver hanging around the parking lot.

What he is saying is we do alot of work for free. And i mean alot. Pretrips, post trips,
filling out paperwork, scanning paperwork, boss blowing up the phone cuz plans changed while you're trying to sleep. Then its time to go and swift decided he was going to half ##* park in a tight lot so now you gotta wake him up or try to maneuver around him. This job should easily pay 6 figures, but it doesn't. This is a doing something you love profession not a get rich quick scheme.

 

Having the cdl in hand puts you to the head of the class in cdl school. You'll be able to get right to the other issues involved and probably more driving time in school while other students are studying for their cdl permit. TMC will probably appreciate you thinking ahead. Well, TMC or whichever company you choose should you go the company training route.

 

Yea you're going to be put with a trainer either way for at least 3-4 weeks.
