Hi professional drivers. I just started driving with Schneider *ducks for cover*. I have to give big props to all of the OTR guys out there I had no idea how stressful it is going to so many new customers every day. Idk if its on purpose but I think since im the new guy im getting all the crappy east coast runs. Jersey city is a mess. Also getting a decent place to park is difficult. Last night for example I set my GPS to the nearest truck stop that way I can get something to eat. I drove up and there was nothing there at all so I backtracked a little ways to where I saw a Lowe's. I've been away from home for a month now and im going back at the end of May. I have a lot of respect for all you guys out there who are able to do this because right now I want to call it quits but im going to hope it gets easier and stick with it.

Is your home in the Northeast?
You're not being picked on, it's just that the Northeast is a heavy freight area and if you're pulling a dry van expect a lot of it.
To get get more variety and see the USA, you need to either switch to Schneider Bulk or change companies. If you change companies, make sure it's a 48 state carrier. For example, Southern Refrigerated Transport, from the information I've been able to get, mostly runs Southern half of USA coast-to-coast. Navajo Express runs coast-to-coast & trucks have APU's. Midwest-Coast Transport runs lots of Florida & Southeast to West Coast. Melton Truck Lines runs coast-to-coast and has APU's. Tanker companies see a lot of the coastal states;East Coast states, Florida and across to Texas and California. This isn't to say you won't see the Northeast from time to time because you will, but you won't have to live there in a truck.

Ask for some advice for some good companies on the "Experienced Truckers Advice" or "Questions From New Drivers" threads.

Put your location, city/state on your profile so we know the hiring area you live in.
