I was looking at this day cab today....2009 international with cummins from a private seller today. He didn't have the registration and he hasn't registered it in over 2 years.
When I looked at it today.....he still runs it locally...and had a 53ft loaded trailer attached. All the stickers said 2019.
Truck looked in pretty decent condition and he suggested I drive it with the loaded trailer to see how much power it had....I declined.
So I get the vin #.....pay to get a report on it....and noticed it was branded in 2019. Could this be the reason he hasn't registered it, because he maybe is unable to with the branded title???
Can someone explain to me what is possibly going on here? He didn't disclose really anything to me aside from just having the title only, and still driving the truck with no registration the past 2 years....allegedly.

We've had a couple trucks go non current and I tried every excuse I could think of, those ladies are hard assesss.slow.rider Thanks this. -
Is the truck in California? I think they stopped allowing trucks to register for plates if they were not up to certain emission requirements.
@Diesel Dave -
so it has a salvage title which isn’t cleared. This means it was in an accident and the insurance company deemed it salvage, the state changed the title to prevent fraud and to make money off of it.
When this happens, the truck has to be fixed. The insurance will give a reason for the title change, and that has to be fixed, it can be minor or major fix but it has to be fixed before the title is changed to get the plates for it.
This guy is illegal, he is very shrewd at scamming people or he is very stupid. If he had an accident, he is toast and if he is working for any company, they are toast, I know lawyers would would just wait for an accident from someone like this guy to pounce on him to make a good commission from a huge settlement. I am very surprised that the insurance company even allowed him to insurance the truck.
walk away unless he is giving it to you. I mean free giving it to you.Midwest Trucker and trucky909 Thank this. -
I wouldn't take it even if it was free. There's more going on here than meets the eye. The guy selling the truck has proven himself to be deceptive. Why take a chance?
