No wasn't involved in that other situation your speaking of , I was on training for a good while then given a truck which ended up being broken so I was annoyed with the situation an went home , what difference would it make if I was trapped in a hotel or at home either way the truck being broken had nothing to do with me received as is

You are not going to get the answer you want. You went home. No pay for hometime.

It’s common practice to not pay the driver if he goes home during breakdowns. They may even try to take away any hometime you’re scheduled for (if you have any) - claiming you just took it.

I don’t like it- I see what you’re saying. But it’s common practice. Just take this as an expensive lesson and move on. It sucks, but it’s part of the learning curve of this goofy, ridiculous, beatiiful business we call trucking.

Silly question. Did you even give them a day or two to try and get you another truck? Sounds like you went home in a huff and are now upset they followed policy.
Because I can almost guarantee any company of any size will have a policy about this.

We don't get breakdown pay if the truck is in a company shop. Doesn't matter where we choose to spend the downtime. The reason is that the company has spare trucks and one will be offered if yours will be more than a day.
