Breakdown pay during an extended repair timeframe?

    That's a question that needs to be answered BEFORE you join a company. You get whatever the company gives when you join a company. MAYBE, at some very small companies you can get them to change their procedure for unusual circumstances when it happens. It doesn't matter what MOST trucking companies do in this circumstance because you don't work for MOST trucking companies or the AVERAGE trucking company. You work for one trucking company and their pay and conditions apply. If you boss is a good guy he may pay you after you start working again, or he may be saying that so you delay complaining about getting no pay until later.

    I broke down in SD on a Friday night and was towed 150 miles to Sioux Falls.
    Was Monday before they could look at it and was told it would need a warranty motor replacement.
    Was Thursday before they got a driver down to pick me up.
    Paid $250 a day wage, $45 per for food and paid lodging. Better than a poke in the eye.

    go work for a real company, you should not have any problem finding another job.

    And if all employers acted in a similar matter (please see Adam Smith, chapter 3), the idea of a union would never have occurred.
