Trucks are money when rolling. Trucks are bills sitting still for your convenience with the wife.

You are going to be gone OTR. If your wife cannot take care of herself or whatever is going on at home with you acting as a caregiver part time then trucking is not for you at this time. Your wife comes first. OR... hire a caregiver at 20 dollars a hour several times a week to fill in for YOU will you train and then haul revenue loads.

For a truck to sit it's easily 500-1500 a day loss to the owner.

This is not going to work. Even if you did get your time going home, it's going to cost you half that coming and going around the loads before and after. You do not get to decide your schedule OTR. The loads come first.

On the other hand, he'd have a spotter for backing.

Probably lead to a divorce, but at least he wouldn't hit nothing.

No way, locking her in the basement would be cruel. She's chained to a radiator upstairs so she can reach a bathroom.

    Man, so true.

I've gotten to where I get antsy if I'm shut down for more than two or three days at a time. I can't stop thinking about the loads I'm missing.

Crazy thing is, we're not struggling to make ends meet. Wife and I have low overhead and good income. We can AFFORD to take time off. I guess I'm just greedy, lol.

I have had to ban myself from load boards while on time off.

    It's an addiction.

Good luck on that dream of yours. Also 4-6 weeks? I think the recruiter was feeding you what you wanted to hear. Since 2010, new candidates get 6 months of training. Drivers whom have had previous experience will need less time. Here again @otterinthewater might be able to turn you out with less time if your driving with Western Express. Yet Western likes to do forced dispatch. If you dont like the load, that is tough, you take it or go walking at their convenience.

Your wife will get bored if she is just riding. Why not let her do some of your job? When my wife rode with me, she was keeping track of the paper work, second set of eyes to find a address, returning messages on the qualcomm pad.

And the needy motor carriers should just stop disposing of the needy drivers. Once everyone is happy and is in the money there is no more shortage of anything.

I believe Schneider is 3 weeks of training. 1st week in class/range. 2nd week OTR. 3rd week range. Also some companies might not allow a rider right off the bat.
