This isn't all true. You can still transport a firearm through a state like Illinois as long as it's cased and unloaded.

When the cop finds your gun, don't tell him your name is Crazybread.
There's probably a pimp in Newark already using that name.

I have said in the past several states, as in the NE ban ammunition of the type I carry (JHP Federal which is the same as the surplus from Police or Military) I have several other boxes of ammunition for this and that but that is not all.

There are States in the Union who disarm people in it. My theory is that these states are not supportive of the Consitution and therefore should not be in the Union.

Chicago has the toughest laws, but they have also the highest stacking bodies dead and wounded each week by gun.

I enjoy my time in a free state and there are many other freer states in which there is no problem I think that pretty much settled it as far as Im concerned. IF a state is anti gun, move out. And take your tax revenue with you.

Actually, Illinois has eased up on the restrictions quite a bit. If you have a permit from your home state, even though Illinois doesn't recognize other state permits, you can carry your pistol loaded ONLY IN YOUR VEHICLE.

You can’t carry a loaded firearm in a vehicle without a valid Permit/license.

    430 ILCS 66/40

    (e) Nothing in this Act shall prohibit a non-resident from transporting a concealed firearm within his or her vehicle in Illinois, if the concealed firearm remains within his or her vehicle and the non-resident:

    (1) is not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal law;

    (2) is eligible to carry a firearm in public under the laws of his or her state or territory of residence, as evidenced by the possession of a concealed carry license or permit issued by his or her state of residence, if applicable; and

    (3) is not in possession of a license under this Act. If the non-resident leaves his or her vehicle unattended, he or she shall store the firearm within a locked vehicle or locked container within the vehicle in accordance with subsection (b) of Section 65 of this Act. (Source: P.A. 98-63, eff. 7-9-13.)

My take is like the drill instructor told us in boot camp about the UCMJ.
Do anything you want, anything, just don't get caught.
If bear searches your truck for whatever reason, and finds it, especially loaded, well Lucy you got some splanin' to do.

If your really that in fear of your life, get yourself a legal sharp knife, and put it in the guys throat.
I myself prefer my thumper. I promise you I can incapacitate someone just as easily with my thumper without killing them, as you could with a knife.
And once you start shooting or stabbing someone, I can pretty much guarantee your gonna be late for your delivery. Maybe like 7 or 8 years late.

I've known guys that had lock boxes bolted under the bunk with a piece in them. I don't know if bear can make you open that.
But even then your going to need to explain to a judge how you got away from whatever threat, went to your truck, retrieved firearm, went back to threat, then settled the score. Meh, your going to prison.

Get a thumper. Learn the police baton tactics.

9 times out of 9.1, someone staring down the barrel of a gun is going to summon up some manners they didn't know they had. And that's usually the end of it.

I've been cornered before in some pretty rough neighborhoods. Most thugs are opportunistic, they look to get at you when you are away from your vehicle and the likelyhood of being seen is low.

Park on Continental Way in Atlanta sometime at 11 pm and walk your bills a quarter mile to the guard shack at Kroger. I've been approached numerous times delivering to that ####hole.

I see now. Even with the old law you could still carry while traveling through. I see now it can be loaded

Several states ban the use of stun guns by private citizens
