I'm looking for info on Britton; specifically Dry Van. More specifically how many miles can you realistically expect? I see threads for flatbed but no real info on dry van. Seems like a nice company but I'd like a little more info.

@MrEd can answer your questions.
hoosiergirl Thanks this. -
Most of us who post on here are flatbed guys. According to the company stats, van guys generally run more miles than flatbed. I believe that's because the van side has more opportunity for drop and hook. Flatbed has more live loading. You should be up around 2600-2800 or so a week, most weeks. I don't really pay too much attention to how many miles I run. I pay attention to how big my paycheck is. And with very few exceptions, its big enough. I will make in the upper 60's if the 2nd 6 months of the year goes anywhere close to how the first 6 went.

Thank you @MrEd He just got his cdl so this is his first job search in the trucking industry and they (the trucking industry as a whole) sure don't make it easy for a newbie to get an idea of what to expect pay wise.
All that aside, it seems like a really nice, stable company without a lot of the bs that you expect with megas. -
Mr ed..im an 18yr veteran flatbed for 15yrs and had to stop trucking between july 2014 to may 2017 then got hired on at bt global and quit after 5 weeks because of there incompetence..recruiter mike hired me but said due to the insurance i have to go out with a britton trainer because i have been out of truck for a while..i guess they dont count my 5 weeks with bt between may 2017 to 26 june 2017..so how long would you have me in the truck for..thx

I am very happy here at Britton. Been here about 5 1/2 years. Not planning to go anywhere, other than maybe buying my own truck. But will lease that on here if it ever happens. Great people here, who never talk down their nose or lie to anyone, that I've ever seen anyway.Hoosier_Girl said: ↑Thank you @MrEd He just got his cdl so this is his first job search in the trucking industry and they (the trucking industry as a whole) sure don't make it easy for a newbie to get an idea of what to expect pay wise.

What are the common roads Britton runs? Any chance for runs to Chicago, Indiana or New York? Forced dispatch? Chains?
Knucklehead Thanks this. -
Hi Rocknroller4. Britton runs about everywhere. You will see Chicago and Indiana in either the van division or the flatbed division. While I have been through New York state a couple times, and even crossed the G.W. I haven't went into the city off I-95 yet. I don't know on the van side if that happens or not. But if you wanted it to, and talked to your dispatcher, I'm sure it could be worked out, at least from time to time. While they technically are forced dispatch, I've never felt forced to take anything. I'm frequently asked if I want a certain load. If there is a reason I don't, I just say so, and he gives me something else. That being said, if he says a load really needs to get going, I take it. I work with them, they work with me. Most of Brittons loads go from the Dakota's out to wherever, then they try to route you back that way to grab another. If you don't live in the Dakota's anywhere tgatvwould be subject to change. They do now have a pretty big and growing contract in Iowa on the van side. Some of those guys never get to the Dakota's at all. Chains? I'm assuming you mean tire chains. We do have them, and carry them. I don't know that they've ever forced someone to sling them. But just to get over a pass, and back to good roads, they may encourage it, instead of having the truck set for days waiting on roads to clear on a pass. They do want and encourage safe compliant driving. So they'd never tell you to chain up and get rolling on a road so bad you should be parked.Rocknroller4 said: ↑What are the common roads Britton runs? Thank you. I am considering them or Navajo Express. Britton want me to sign a contract though. I'm a complete rookie with no experience as well. What are the winters like up there?MrEd said: ↑Hi Rocknroller4. Britton runs about everywhere. You will see Chicago and Indiana in either the van division or the flatbed division.
