Hoosiergirl, those extra bonuses arent really new. They give extra bonus money in the fourth quarter every year. It's to encourage working a little harder during the holiday season, as well as to compensate drivers extra for doing so. It's a nice extra bit of "thank you" money they make available. Some of the single drivers take advantage of it and make an extra grand or so every year.

I'm so glad the surgery went well and that Britton is being so understanding. With our short experience with Britton, it's not surprising though. This was exactly the type of company my husband was hoping to find. He actually feels appreciated for his contribution and you sure can't beat that.

Well it's been about 3 weeks so I thought I'd update. I'm not sure what's going on but planning has really been dropping the ball. Husband was supposed to be picking up a load headed my way to get him home for thanksgiving but, spoiler alert-he's not gonna make it.
So he got a load to Arkansas to deliver today then was supposed to pick up a load nearby heading to Kentucky so he could be home for Thanksgiving. There wasn't much info on the second load-It just said "Details to follow." He didn't think much of it because he had several conversations asking what he wanted to do for Thanksgiving and he's never had a problem getting home when he requested. Well, first they moved back the pickup time to 9pm which didn't really work with his hours then he saw that the load was going to the yard in North Dakota. Of course nobody could (would??) do anything about it so he'll be stuck on the road somewhere out in South or North Dakota for Thanksgiving and probably won't be home until Sunday or Monday.
If this was the first f/up it would still suck but I don't think it would've upset him as much as it did. A few weeks ago he was running low on hours so they asked him to meet another driver so they could take the load to make sure it would deliver on time. Husband waited on the other driver for hours and no one was picking up the phone. He finally went to sleep and in the morning still no driver. He finally gets a call back the next morning asking why he wasn't moving. Still don't know how they messed it up but to make a long story short, they told my husband to run it and had to reschedule the delivery so he had to sit another day and a half. He ended up having to sit 2 full days on this load because it was messed up so bad.
He ended up getting 1800 miles for the week between this load and a couple others that were like 600 mile runs over 3 days. These were runs that could've been done in 1 full day of driving but the appt times were 2 and 3 days out. They'd tell him they could get it rescheduled but it never worked out.
By the 2nd week of horrible planning with short runs over many days he was ready to talk to other companies. Fortunately, they pulled it together last week and he had a 3600 mile week but now they really dropped the ball on Thanksgiving and of course they're all out of the office enjoying the holiday for the next few days. Definitely not worth the extra $100 for working on Thanksgiving. If they even tried to get him back east it wouldn't have bothered me so much. But he's not going to be 1 or 2 days late, he'll be 4 or 5 days late. If I have anything to say about it, this will be the last time he volunteers to work so close to a holiday.Last edited: Nov 23, 2017

I'm reading what's been going on and this is exactly the same thing with my husband. It's too bad that they are messing up. The thing is, they don't care and we have had really bad checks. If I were in that situation, I would've called the customer myself about a Saturday delivery. Sometimes you have to help dispatch to dispatch, if you want things done.

That's what I always did even though company policy was "drivers aren't allowed to call shippers & receivers & customers." It's a dumb policy, so I ignored it.Knucklehead Thanks this.

He usually did but in this case, I think he was just so frustrated and since he asked them more than once and they said no, they are closed, apparently he just didn't. I thought to ask him to do it anyways but he was pretty cranky by then.Knucklehead Thanks this.
