Hey Lostnavigator, Sioux Falls isn't a bad place to live. Except for the nine month winters! But no state income taxes. That's a plus.

Maybe someone here can answer this or not. I see Bison going through my area but have yet to see a Britton transport. I know Bison is the Canadian side and Britton the US side. I would think Britton would go through here with dry vans the same as Bison and maybe I've just missed them?
-
I'm not sure where here is. If here is Canada, don't know. I know the flatbed drivers go to Canada.

Here is SW WI between Lacrosse WI & Dubuque IA.

Goldenfan, have you just been noticing trailers, or what it says on the tractor? Pretty much any red tractor will be Britton, and gold or white is the Bison ones. Both pull mainly trailers that say Bison.
-
The trailer sticks out and I can't say I've seen a red tractor pulling one. It's been gold which when close enough I know it says Bison. I see a few Bison trailers dropped at a factory here. That's why I wonder if I might be in an OK area for Britton even though I'm an hour or so from I90.

I'm sure it could work for you Goldenfan. I go through, close enough to there, either in Iowa or Wisconsin, to know that you could cut through home pretty regularly. And I know this company will do their best to get a guy home anyway, even if you have to go a bit out of route once in a while to get there.
Goldenfan Thanks this. -
Hey Lostnavigator, did you stop at the Belvidere, Ill toll road service plaza for lunch today? (4/16/15) I was over on the eastbound side.

Hello All, I am not sure if I am posting this in the right spot. I am just looking for a little information and was hoping I could find some here. Just some quick background... I live up in Northwest MN, about an 1hr and 15min from Grand Forks. I have been seriously thinking about getting into driving truck for some time. I have a full time sales job and have been working out of my home for the past 10 years, so disciple is not a problem. I am in the computer industry and have been in sales for over 17 years. I am really just looking for part time work as my wife is looking to quit her job and we will need more income for our family. I was interested in something like weekend work or long weekends Thursday - Monday?? Like I said, I have always had a desire to learn more about trucking, but outside of driving beet truck in the falls, I don't have any experience. I was online doing some research and ran into the Britton website and also have seen their trucks on I-29. I saw that they hire part time drivers and thought this might be a good fit. I know that there is a lot that I would need to do, but any guidance would be much appreciated. I know that I probably need to go to trucking school and get my CDL.... I didn't see if Britton had any programs for training inexperienced guys like myself? I am not sure if just dropping in at Britton to discuss options or a path would be the right direction? Any thoughts would be really appreciated, and thanks for your time.
