Training pay is 500 a week. Depending on your experience, could be less than 5-6 weeks. I am currently the only flatbed trainer. We only have 15-20 flatbeds. After getting your own truck you'll go to CPM. You may not need a gps. They are going to turn on the routing/gps feature on our PeopleNet. Hadn't been using it because too many of our trucks had the old system and were not compatible with that. Not sure exactly when that'll be happening. Also, all the new flatbed tractors are going to be volvo 670's. So no more new flattop 630's. That'll be nice. 670 is taller with 2 bunks, both seats air-ride, and a bit more storage. All our trucks have some type of APU, power inverter, and refridgerators. Another thing to think about is here, the pay they tell you is before any bonuses. If they say .41 cpm after training, you'll earn at least that, not up to that like so many other companies. One point about your concern about a trainer shortage is, we don't use training to add miles, turn loads faster, or to fill trucks. We train the few people we do, because we want to help new people get a good start. I think almost any good company will have a trainer shortage, because although training occurs, it's not the business model. I'll look tomorrow to see if I answered your questions and to see if you posted more.

The company just started using "drivewyze" scale bypass app, through our PeopleNet. Pretty sweet....I got to bypass that South Dakota weigh station just north of Sioux City I despise so much. Pre-Pass doesn't work in South Dakota. It even has what are just locations for portable scales in it. Pre-Pass doesn't have those locations in it. Pretty sold on Drivewyze so far. Also happy that the company decided to provide it at no cost to the driver. They had been charging us if we wanted to have a Pre-Pass in our truck.

Been seeing some dedicated offerings on Craigslist in Iowa from Britton. Iowa-Massachusetts, Ohio and PA on Craigslist lately. What is the top dry van pay? I don't think I'd take a job that didn't pay something for each and every stop but I'm curious nonetheless. Not enough to call but I'll ask here..

You'd be better off calling our recruiter. The active members of this thread are all flatbed I believe, and I think the rates may be a bit different. Flatbed is paid for additional stops. There's serious company talk of adding a terminal in Des Moines also.

I don't know if the dedicated stuff you are asking about will have a different pay rate. I don't think so as none of the other dedicated stuff we have anywhere pays a different rate. That being said the top pay rate here for van guys is ,I'm pretty sure, 42cpm. And we do get paid for each extra stop. Keep in mind, that top pay rate is before any bonuses. Like peelsession said, call Kassi for exact numbers.trkrjim Thanks this.

Thank you Sir. I am older (50) and am changing careers. I am starting school August 15th to get my CDL (320 hours at Community College). I do not have a TWIC Card, nor a Passport...yet. I read the entire thread and can't tell if Britton would take on someone with ZERO experience. In my 20's I drove a Box Truck in Chicago (8 years) and a Limo in Chicago (5 years). I unfortunately have a misdemeanor charge from 8 years ago. It was only for yelling at a guy who was attempting to tow my car from my driveway for no reason other than they wanted $$$. They were investigated by the police and fined/charged with some sort of fraud or something, but it did me no good. I have a record now. I now live in the western suburbs of Milwaukee. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Chinatown Thanks this.

Britton does take new guys straight from school. I am the flatbed trainer. So if you went flatbed, it'd be me you rode with for training. I don't think that misdemeanor would be a problem. The recruiter and safety director look at stuff like that on a case by case basis. Very few things cause an immediate no. Based on where you live, I'd think the van/ reefer division would be a better fit. I've only been to Detroit area a couple times since I've been here. As far a Twix and Passport go. I have only had need of a Twic card a couple times. Was still able to load at the place without one. I just had to be escorted in and out from the the gate to the loading area. With this company, we do go to Canada. We are a division of a Bison, who is a Canadian company. Our people are very good at knowing what needs done to make the crossings as smooth as can be. But, Canada has some odd reasons they will refuse someone entry into Canada. I don't know if your misdemeanor would be one of those things....but I'd find out before spending the money on a passport you can't use. And Britton will still hire you even if you can't go up there. We have a number of guys who can't for various reasons. It's a plus, but not a deal breaker. Also, look into the passport card, instead of the book. It's a good deal less expensive, but it is only good for land travel between the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Carribean. Can't use a passport card to fly anywhere. But if you only want it for trucking to Canada, not European vacations, the card is the way to go.
Lost Navigator and Teddy_Salad Thank this.
