Goldenfan, start pay varies according to how much verifiable experience you have. I think, for students, it is 37cpm in vans and 41cpm in flats. They just increased our pay recently, so I could be a little off on that. As of right now, our only trainer is in vans. They are working on getting a flatbed trainer, but last I heard it'll be jan before we get a trainer truck with 2 bunks on the flatbed side.

Thanks, I'd be a new driver no experience.

MrEd, thanks for the info so far. Just one question from me if you don't mind. How often if ever do you see of runs over to Northern/Central Mn? I have been seeing Britton ads in Craiglist for this area (Brainerd, Mn) as of late. Thanks much.
-
If you get in the reefer division, you should be able to get over toward Brainerd pretty easy. If you want to be on the flatbed side, it may work out....all I can say there is I haven't been closer to Brainerd than Saint Cloud at all in 3 years.
enicolasy Thanks this. -
Why reefer and not dry van ?
-
Sorry, it is mostly dry van, but it think I've seen them pulling a reefer or two. I don't really see them too much, and I seldom get to the terminal in Grand Forks to notice for sure. Us guys on the flatbed side work mostly out of south east South Dakota. The flatbed office is in Sioux Falls.
enicolasy Thanks this. -
Do they run you stay.i was told that when they hire you easy to get you home. Do they give the option to reefer or dry van .I'm from Nc
-
There are two divisions.... Van/reefer or flatbed. Flatbedders don't pull van or reefer. The guys in that division pull both. Although I can't say what percentage of time they do either. We have enough miles to run you as steady as you want to run. I average over 10,000 miles per month. The van/reefer guys average around or a bit over 11,000 a month. I don't really know how often you would get home. We have a flatbedder who lives in NC and they seem to keep him pretty content with his home time. Last I talked to him anyway. I get home, on average, every 10-14 days. Usually get a full 2 days at home. If I need a little extra time its never a problem. Just talk to my dispatcher and its OK.
