Be sure to tell your first Capstone lumpers that you're a card-carrying lifetime member of this elite Brotherhood. It will impress them all the way down to their souls. It really will.

But congrats on the CDL. One bit of final advice I can give you is to not sit over the rear tires on the Trans Am bus. It rides like a '40's tank.

Lumpers= size 12 boot and size 2 hat...I'll just use the ol' Jedi mind trick on 'em.

Don't let them try and pressure you into the lease..hold ground and tell them you're only interested in company driver position.

No worries there. The level of hubris or just outright stupidity involved with a new driver with absolutely no knowledge of the ins and outs of the business of trucking taking on a lease is incomprehensible to me. Five years from now maybe I'll buy a truck but never a lease.

They say it's pretty much standard cable with HBO and NFL Sunday Ticket and a DVR. I'm glad to have it for those times when they aren't turning or are turning slowly but the satellite radio (which you have to pay for yourself) is more practical and will hopefully see much more use.

This just in also...I'll be boarding Greyhound Monday morning bound for Olathe. Orientation starts Wednesday. I'll be cranking up a thread on my experiences with TA from that point on.

I can think of one measurement that a lot of them might be interested in and it's not your boots or hat sizes (somewhere in between, though).

Good luck to you in Olathe.

See even a blind squirrel finds a nut ever now and then lol. Congrats on your new venture, just keep your ears open, your eyes peeled, and hold it between the ditches, everything should be ok.
