I'm only a four-wheeler.. but I have been known to exit the highway and come back to a driver having issues. I can't do much, but I always have snacks and water and soda in the car.. once even handed a driver a blanket and umbrella.. came back two hours later, he was still there.. so I helped him get the proper tow company out and dropped him at a hotel, so he could wait for his truck comfortably.

Yeah, I know, not the safest actions for a female out there by herself... but there but for the Grace of God goes one of mine.

I remember a time on 287 just outside Ft. Worth. A flatbedder tried to make a u turn on a two-lane and got his tractor tandems stuck. The trailer was blocking the road and it was 2 AM. At the time there was no traffic and I was able to get around him and backed up my trailer to his front bumper. We hooked one of his cargo chains from behind his front bumper to my DOT bumper and I was able to pull him enough to get his tandems back on pavement. All the while I was afraid some 4-wheeler would drive up under his trailer but we were lucky that no one else was on the road.

He was thankful and wanted to buy me a cup of coffee but I told him that wasn't necessary and that I had to get on my way and I was just glad to help.

I asked him not to call my company to say thank you because that would get me fired. Go figure.

I agree. I'd like to see it become a brotherhood again. You never know how you might benefit later from a kind gesture. It does go a long way.
