Worth reaching out to this company. Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about their Canadian operations.

I grew up in a pulp and paper town, used to see chip trucks and log trucks all the time, I left for the city and more opportunity. Funny how things go full circle, I have spoken already with my current employer, letting him know I’m looking. Might be last summer of renovations. I appreciate you reaching out with good suggestions, and your industry knowledge. I will be really focusing in on it over the winter, I can’t leave my company mid season, that’s scumbaggery after 27 years. You guys are good people on here

Lol ya I’ve always had better luck going in person. This is the only site I’m on too. No Facebook or any of those things. I’ve been on here quite a few years though. Got a lot of help from these guys.

Dunno what the terrain is like out your way but IMO a log hauler is usually a higher skilled driver than the average OTR driver if you're hauling out of the mountains in adverse conditions on a regular basis.

This how out of date I am…. Finished an outdoor kitchen for a friend of mine, they loved it, his wife asked if she could send me an e transfer, I said I don’t need e, call me when you have cash for me. My buddy said he peed a little laughing when his wife told him my answer

Do they still unload those chip haulers with that massive truck and trailer holding table that raises up like a dump truck? The mills had them to keep volume high, looks like one heck of a carnival ride!

Ya. Some you have to unhook and just dump the trailer. Most do the whole truck. If they ever catch you taking that ride you’ll be banned from the mill lol. Most mills I’ve been to you have to hold the button and dump yourself so you couldn’t stay in the truck anyway.

There’s a story that went around I have no idea if it’s true. A guy came into a chip mill right at closing time. They let him dump, but the ramp wouldn’t let back down once it was all the way up. They told him he would have to leave his truck there overnight since the maintenance had already left. The guy said that would be fine, except for the fact his son was up there in the truck.
