I can't seem to find an answer to an issue I'm having.

I am on a dedicated account and get a pallet jack each day in my trailer. I keep being sent broken pallet Jack's that are unsafe to use. I have told the cross dock every time and my DBL. Yet they continue to send me broken pallet Jack's.

How do I solve this issue?

How exactly are they unsafe to use ? Enquiring minds want to know .. I’ve used some beat up pallet jacks but considered annoying more than unsafe.. are you talking power pallet jacks by chance. ..

I hear ya', pal, I was glad to have anything at all, a luxury few bosses will admit to. Most times, the wheels get jammed with wrap or strings, and don't roll well. Trusty Swiss Army knife took care of that. Floors me, someone would put up with that. I'm out of the loop, but a "power jack" was never available. Not the places I worked, anyway.

We don't get power pallet Jack's. One is missing a wheel and 2 are missing the stop that prevent the handle from going all the way forward and allows you to push the jack.

It wouldn't be a big deal, but engines are heavy especially on a lift gate.

I swap trailers in the middle of the desert. The pallet jack is usually buried in it somewhere. Way more of a hassle than the cross dock sending me a working one.

I have no good solution, just a cranky one.

Refuse to unload and take it back. But that's me being cranky this morning.

More productively- are you CLEARLY marking the pallet jack as out of service when you send it back to the cross dock? AND EXPLICITLY talking with Ops to make sure the cross dock knows?

Are you getting the same couple of jacks over and over again? Take a sharpie and put a discreet number somewhere (or duct tape).

Have you made your Ops Manager aware of this? You can find your Ops managers number on the home page in compass.

Have you talked to your safety manager?

Sometimes you have to keep kvetching until things change.

park the truck, walk away, get another job.
