Tell you what, next time my customer asks for a 4am update lll just tell her " if you need me to update every 4 hours you can keep you load." and we gonna see how well that goes over.... Or better yet, ill give her your number and you can explain it to her yourself why she doesnt need to bother you on a load valued at 150,000.

150,000 hahaha! Dude I carry 750,000 in cargo insurance and regularly have to bump it to a million. You tell her you will update her as soon as the driver is up and rolling. If he laid down at midnight he’s in the same spot.

Oh man, customer would want an update every 15 mins for 1 million load value. But what am i supposed to do as a broker when this customer, that pays us millions of dollars a year and doesnt give a single F about your truck or the weather, wants their update ? And if we bull ####e them, they give us less business....

I realize you are in a rock and a hard place. Has anyone tried to explain the situation to them? It’s not being butt hurt, but nobody wants to be awaken from a dead sleep just to be asked their location and what’s the reefer temp. All it takes is for the driver to update before bed and again once they are up. It’s unsafe and puts their load in jeopardy to call someone every 4 hours while they are trying to sleep.

How about the driver does what they are technically supposed to do, and switches to "on duty" to nswer the phone call every 4 hours? "Opps, i need atleast 7 hours consecutively reset my clock, looks like im to going to roll out now." Better call that customer and tell thrm the truck isnt moving because you dont understand hours of service or have a shred of respect for the person doing the work?

Some customers do not give a give a F..., they just do not care, doesnt matter what it we as brokers tell them - they are just too big and have too much clout. I go 100/100 on loads, all on time, no claims and some jack wagon, kid broker bids 1 dollar less than me and gets 10 of my lanes. He loses money, gives loads back, and doesnt understand the game. All the while customer cares about the bottom dollar and if your kids go hungry, they dont lose any sleep.

"How about the driver does what they are technically supposed to do...." - and they just fine you for late delivery, call/email me 1000 times, which just prompts me to call more, and it lowers my metrics with the customer meaning i get less business from them and we all end up losing money . Best practice is to call the broker and tell them where you stop, what reefer temp is set to, and then make sure they know its break time and not to call.
