That all sounds like a you problem. Thats a terrible customer. They expect white glove treatment but cut you loose for -$1 on a load? Let them go to another broker that is going to hire some guy with flipflops and a ducktaped together rig. You can either have rock bottom rates or excellent service, you cant have both.

Agree, and when you book my load i need white glove service from you too
. Now I love when the guy in flipflops ####s the bed and misses delivery or runs his reefer on cycle and causes a claim on a load. BUT... these guys are an international produce company, they sell produce all over the world in almost every super market. Our company make literal millions off of them annually. Do they suck? Yes... but do they pay the bills ? Yes.
We have another customer that is the best to work for, always pays on time, rarely any claims, pays me 1000 on top of whatever the truck wants. But they dont sell their product in Paris, France unfortunately. -
How thoroughly are you vetting your carriers?
-
Sounds like you need to dump them as a customer.
-
Overly vetting if that is possible. Most of the carriers we work with get the load before it ever touches a load board since we know them and work with them regularly. If/When i do have post a few, every carrier calling in gets ran thru carrier 411 and carrier assure at the very least. In addition to any internal company notes we have saved...and not to mention the 10 spread sheets i have of all the ChiTown scam MC#s, the SoCal scam MC#s, the Armenia and Caulcuta/Bombay scam MC#s - and then the scam broker MC#s they use so i can catch them if they try to double broker my loads. If you have a fall out % over 10% i wont use use. Fall out on a Saturday? no call no show ? not getting my load unless im desperate for a truck. I have enough of a relationship with the customers to get the margins i need (most of the time) to make it all work.
-
You are right, should i send you over all of their contact info so you can deal with the head ache? All 2.5 million worth of the headaches....
-
Honestly, you don't get it. What Avrakotos is talking about is Volume, based on what you have been saying (and i could be wrong) you are a single O/O. You don't do volume, can't do volume, and so you don't understand what is needed to do volume. Avrak has 2.5 million reason to work with this customer and you would cut your nose of to spite your face, in this instance.
Avrakotos Thanks this. -
I don’t want itSpace Truckin and Lite bug Thank this.

You sound like every cheap freight broker who ever walked the planet. You will eat whatever turd sandwich a customer will feed you because you are afraid of losing their business. Irregardless of the time wasting and silly hoops and under threat that they will dump you for the next broker who offers to do it a hundred bucks cheaper.
This does not sound like a good customer. They sound like a pain in the ### and I would dump them, because they sure as #### will dump you. With the extra free time you can cultivate better shippers which will net better carriers which will net higher profits. And most importantly no unnecessary BS. They are anal about the check calls because the offer #### rates and get #### carriers and have been burned.
You get what you pay for.Space Truckin, Lite bug, KB3MMX and 3 others Thank this. -
When a guy talks about “volume” he really means low margin. Low margin freight sucks for broker and trucker alike.
Space Truckin, Lite bug, dunchues and 4 others Thank this.
