No sane normal person dumps 2,500,000 worth of business because the customer is a pain in the ###...Dealing with carriers is more of a pain in the ### than that customer that is so demanding.

2.4 million assuming he he working 100h a week, is $461.54/h. Doesn't feel like low margin to me. Like it said, VOLUME, which you don't understand because you are just one truck. It's ok. You are right for a single truck, not worth it. BUT to a broker that can move volume, it's worth it.

All those time you though the broker was keeping a ton of the rate in their margin, they may not have been. Volume doesn't mean cheap freight, it means the broker can pay a truck more, or charge his customer less, because they can afford to take a lesser margin. I get that less money per load does not equal more money in your pocket, but if a broker can get 50 loads instead of 5 loads, it makes sense to a broker.

We’ve gotten way off in the weeds and I’m not going to change your mind and you certainly aren’t going to change mine.

What I originally responded to was the idea of not understanding why someone would be “butt hurt” at constant check calls especially in the middle of the night. If you choose to sign up for that so be it, but me as a carrier and a driver don’t want that freight. And I doubt highly it will pay enough for me to be willing to be subjected to that.

As far as the hourly rate for 2.5 million. Is that 2.5 million your brokerage’s cut or is it 2.5 million in total revenue? Big difference. If that is total then he’s keeping what $300,000 the same 100 hours a week is 67 bucks and some change per hour. Then there is what 60/40 split? So 40 bucks an hour?

Only work about 80/hrs a week, give or take.

Oh i understand why youre butt hurt getting 4 am phone calls. But when you sign my rate con you agree to it in the fine print, as well as agreeing to tracking. I can technically fine you for not answering or tracking. Its enough that my night dispatch calls you 8 times from 00:30 - 07:00 for a reefer check, so i dont fine anyone...My point was its not that difficult to communicate in 2023 and an email/call should not go unanswered or not returned. If your stopping for your 10 hour, call/email the broker that your doing so and it should solve the problem of getting calls all the time. Be proactive.

And yes i work for a brokerage, they take their cut - for the computers, the TMS system, the accounting department, the carrier compliance, HR, AP and AR, Legal team, the use of the name and affiliations, the carrier base, the carrier 411, the tracking apps, the facilities ( i work in a big nice office building ), the food trucks outside my office, et al. So in a nutshell, 10000% worth it. I have no wife and no kids but i went to Paris 4 times in 2022. Work my ### off, usually 7 days a week 24/7 - like a fire fighter without having to run into a burning building, im always on call.

All these reefer brokers and truckers got issues. Glad I never got a taste of that in my life.

All true... it can be miserable at times. Especially when one of the people involved in the entire process from start to finish ends up being a big turd. But it pays the bills. To each his own i guess, someone has to do it so you can eat.

    Entertaining thread for sure.

Most people use technology more than phone check calls to track any high value load.
4G rind recorders, GPS trackers , ported ELD devices, ol macropoint, etc.
It's just better load visibility for the customer.

Not picking sides but touting Millions in meaningless gross #s is merely a pizzing match here guys.

Now if I'm taking home 2.5M NET $$ or large profit margins , you better believe I'm gonna be anybody's Bi*ch :)
