Broker demands proof of ELD usage

    This is true, and I did not take that into account. However a 17 year old truck that is running elogs with brand new numbers can be in the same situation. And that is why I think a SAFER review would be a better metric to use than whether or not they run elogs.

    I don't know what the solution is. I do know if a broker wants to see my logs ill counter with an offer of texting them a quick photo of the keller device mounted under my dash, but I'm not going through the the time of unpacking and firing up the laptop and printer to download, print off, scan, and email the last week of logs.

    That says i do feel brokers have a general responsibility to use carriers that follow hos. Not so far that they need to be checking logs, but a basic understanding of hos and real world travel time. This will be less of a problem now that the vast majority are required to be in elogs, but before December it was a very common issue. When that 800 mile load from Chicago to south Carolina gets run in under 20 hours by a solo its quite obvious it wasn't run legal.
