    Detention is a joke.

Some shippers only put times when they start and end loading, not the time the driver checked in, and not the time when documents are released.
Then you will have a broker not paying detention even after live updates provided by the driver, or fighting detention time which might take two weeks before approved.

I really appreciate good brokers when you have them.

Rookie driver 956 and Opendeckin Thank this.

Detention pay on a industry standard was 2 hrs, 3hrs, and sometimes 4 hrs. A broker told hs that their us no standard. Brokers tell the carrier what they feel is right or adequate regarding detention pay if at all.

I'm starting to wonder if satan himself is a Freight Broker in human form?

Why did you agree to sit there for all that time for free? Was there a gun pointed at your head preventing you from leaving?

You sound like a company driver. No self respecting business owner lets everyone from the customer, to their customer's customers dictate how their business is operated.

They're all making money off you instead of you making generating revenue off them.

Understood. Sometimes the best lessons are learned the hard way. Just look at it this way, if you're going to lose revenue; do you want to do it on your terms or someone else that is actually benefitting from it?

    Siinman and Oxbow Thank this.

They informed they put us on DNU list.

    They also wrote:
“Per our company policy in line with industry standards. We cannot and will not compensate for any layovers or detention if the driver left the shipper before getting loaded.”

How long have u been in this business? I don't ask that as being mean, just curious. Because this happens more than once. That's why alot of guys have short patience when it comes to working with bad brokers like this. Brokers like you mention here are a dime a dozen.

It’s a first one who says they won’t pay anything, not a minimum.

I appreciate all good brokers. I usually work for the same brokers. But sometimes, I take a risk with a new one.
I wonder if DAT usually lists loads now nobody wants to serve because of the brokers.
