Got rate confirmation and the next morning shipper said it was wrong pick up number. Broker never answered the phone or returned my email. I asked the shipper to give me a letter of my proof of showing up here and they did.

45 days later broker refused to pay $150 TONU after sending in bill. Well I filed a small claims court petition to sue the broker for $1000. About a week the broker called to settle before first appearance on $400.

This was a large brokerage outfit. If the brokers won't pay, take them to court.

Way to go 6wheeler!! If more MC's stood up to these brokers & sent a message, "we aren't going to take this anymore", hopefully it would happen far less often.

On another note I don't know who came up with the $150 tonu fee?, but it's nowhere near the actual loss incurred by myself usually when this happens..

People, you can do this from the comfort of your home. You don't have to go to their court. If the brokers are withholding payment, take them to court

This is what I do specially if I’m going to go more than 50 miles to pick a load.
I make sure the broker send me a revise confirmation with my rate in case they cancel the load , before I move my truck .
For instance , if I’m in Phoenix and the load is in Yuma . My minimum rate is 300. If the broker refuses, then I don’t move my truck . Simple .

I'd take one of those cokes if you have some rum to add to it!

    Court?

File on their bond first, that's what it is there for.

AND $400 is unacceptable, you should never accept what it would cost you in revenue for the day, $500 is minimal.

Just did this a couple weeks back, got a check today.
