Broker: How much do you want?
    Carrier: I need $2000
Broker: $2000? Let me give you $2500
That's what some of these people seem to want, to be paid more than they would do a load for.

Long FLD, TheLoadOut and Siinman Thank this.

The problem people have with it is the carrier will offer $2000, broker responds with the highest they can go is $1500, when the customer/shipper is paying out $2500.

    TheLoadOut and mitmaks Thank this.

Desperate lease-ops, owner-ops, small companies will always be willing to work cheaper or make less money than established operators. That would be true if the freight rates tripled over night or were cut by 2/3rds.

    TheLoadOut and Siinman Thank this.

    I
l'll stand by my statement of what some seem to want happen.
Some are too worried about what someone else makes. Don't like the rate, don't do it.
Can't afford to stay in business, get out and let those that can continue.

Long FLD, tscottme, TheLoadOut and 2 others Thank this.

you offered your rate.. they countered... take the offer, counter it with your own or tell em to shove it up their ###... theres a choice to be made here. and whatever choice is made is the responsibility of the carrier. nobody elses....

What if the shippers only paying 1500?
If you need two grand its still not gonna work for you/ and the fact of the matter is, 100% of a shippers freight rate doesnt mean its worth doing.

If you bid direct with a customer, do you ask how much money they made on a given shipment to determine what your rate should be?
If you’ve bid direct with a customer, and consequently, at some point end up bidding against brokers, you’ll get to see just how big the spread is from one broker to another, in between carriers and brokers in general.

And a carrier never lies about what they would do it for? I'll actually do it for $1500 but ask for $2000?

    Siinman Thanks this.

I'd bet if the brokers gave a participation trophy to every carrier who calls on a load it would solve everything.

    Siinman Thanks this.
