Jon, I think the point as I see it is that there are a couple drivers on here who frequently post their numbers, then get into pissing matches with other drivers when they do the same. It's like their egos are so big they can't handle the competition and get all butt hurt when somebody is doing as well or better. I've posted my numbers on several occasions and both of these two have tried to ridicule me because what I've posted seems like BS to them. I take everything I read here with a grain of salt, and choose to believe what I want and ignore the rest. Drivers on here are no different than a lonely driver who sits next to you in a diner and won't shut up about all of his super trucker accomplishments. Just shake your head, smile, then walk away. Bragging about making a small fortune and being home every night for a home cooked meal prepared by your loving wife, or posting pictures of your bank account balance might make you feel superior to others in some fashion, but about all it really does is make that person appear petty.

Obviously you only see what you want. Says a lot about you. As far as the thread I started, there was no tough guy stuff going on. It was a stupid thread and I regret having started it. And anyone that knows me knows that I would never mess with anyone else’s equipment.

Why can’t people just be happy for other people?

    This...

    And this...

As much as I have enjoyed reading posts about what people make etcetera Etc now that I've been in the game for a while I think it's actually a detriment to do that.

I only say that because I'm sure there are people that read these threads that think oh my God I can get rich!

When really the rates that are shown might not be typical, they might not be normal or usual and they certainly are under the best of conditions.

No offense to anyone but no one is coming on here talking about the shipper they were stuck at for two days and got $150 layover or the Brokers that have the wrong address on the rate con and they never ended up getting paid or whatever the case is.

My point being that it can look to someone on the outside like it's all rainbows and farts that smell like roses, without seeing the expense side of it or the headache sided or the regulation side of it or the unexpected side of it.

I'm happy for everyone here doing whatever they're doing and I do agree take everything with a grain of salt and don't take it too seriously.

It certainly is not something worth arguing over.

Why does anyone share there numbers on a public forum? This is BUSINESS, nothing personal. Don't share your rates, its a bad business decision.
Now with that said, anyone can find out what the spot is paying by looking on the board. But the guys that have been doing this a long time have built relationships with brokers who NEVER EVER post loads on the load board. They work with a select few, and never have any trouble getting loads covered. And the smart O/O don't ever share numbers with anyone....

I agree and as a general rule I do not share. I would rather give new O/O's and anyone else reading other helpful tips on how to succeed at this but I think it's financial suicide to constantly put your numbers out there. Still, full disclosure, I do brag on occasion when I'm proud of how something went. Everybody gets lucky at this on occasion which is what makes it fun.

You certainly won't find me bragging though when another Covid comes along and I'm scraping by on $1.75/mile!

Just to clarify, when I said that I've posted "my numbers" on here before, I've never posted my financial bottom line for earnings for any given period. I will occasionally get one or more great paying loads way above spot rates and as @86scortty mentioned, I brag about it a little as a means to show others how they might benefit from my experience in their area using my methods. Some have inboxed me and appreciate the info. Others have called my posts BS openly on the boards, even as they do the same in addition to posting their complete monthly earnings like it's some kind of badge of honor.

You could quadruple that if you started doing short haul dry van in Southern Oregon or flatbed out of Connecticut.
