    So how does this work? Is it percentage of the total dollars or percentage of the profit?

    It's a split off the top. Say if a load will pay $1,000.00 that split is from this. Say it's a 60/40 then who ever you sign up with gets $400 off the top. That only leaves you 600 to work with. Doesn't give a lot of wiggle room.

    If you get $2000 to move a load for a customer and find a truck to move it for $1800, then you split the profit 60/40 with the company that you are an agent for. So out of the $200 profit or "spread" as its often called, the company keeps $80 and the agency or broker gets $120.
