Let me tell you how it will turn out.

Broker says “that’s all I got” on the load turn out he has more, sooner or later carriers will stop pulling for that broker.

    broker goes out of business.

    more loads for other brokers.

Imagine a world where brokers have to prove they are only making 10-20% off a load. Like they claim.

I’m willing to guess many will not pass the test if not the majority.

    ????

    Brokers undercut brokers.

    Carriers negotiate with brokers.

If he is getting $5 a mile and wants to pay $1.65 a mile then you negotiate or move on.

What, does everybody believe the broker when they say that's all they have in it?

Then why do you need to know what he's making? You already know they're lying when they say that's all they've got in it, and it's a pretty good bet they're currently keeping close to 50% back.

I sure as hell don’t, but like I said when they claim it, then now is the time to back it up.

Broker claiming “I take care of my guys” is the same as a trucker claiming “I run no less then $5 a mile on dry van”

    Remember this is the internet.

Because they're salesmen, they're trying to sell you on taking a load cheap by getting you to feel bad.

I wouldn't be surprised if decent van loads started at 5 a mile with the shipper.
Why do you think the broker is going to be shamed into paying better just because you actually know what he's making? Do you think the guys who are struggling to make ends meet now are suddenly going to say no to the cheap freight they're hauling to just cover their ### because they know the broker does have more in it?
There are more trucks that there are loads, the broker has the upper hand and they know it.

I would say that they are lying because that is their main tool in the negotiation. They lie because they can lie because the rate is not transparent.

It would be interesting to see how that goes when it is transparent.

I don't see why it would change anything, and "it would be interesting to see what changes" is not a reason for rules and bs.
