I am against any further regulation, but the rule is already there. Hopefully they will enforce it.

I could see a positive effect.

The back and forth in this thread is hilarious. Some of you would really benefit from some basic economic courses.

Here's a tip, google "what determines the price of a good or service".

Spoiler alert, it isn't price transparency.

The main reason brokers avoid sharing their price to the customer with their carriers is to avoid making it easier for the carrier to go directly to the brokers customers and back solicit and try and cut out the broker. This industry is unfortunately filled with people that would have no qualms with that.

Yep. And then people are like, "Well, what about contracts against back solicitation!"

Protip: we have that in our contract. I still get 2-3 calls a month from customers telling me that the carrier has left their business card and told them to 'call me instead of your broker if you have something'.

So, that's not super likely to help.

Let me tell you how it will turn out.

Brokers who werent stiffing trucks before, wont have the cash on hand they used to because now the cheap hauling fools arent falling for it anymore.

This will increase the number of average brokers who decide to follow suit with the current scum broker class who goes out with a parachute. simply underbid a huge pile of freight at once, get it all on trucks at good rates, collect the shipper payments and disappear.

The govt CANT MANAGE THAT PRACTICE NOW... What is gonna stop it when even more start doing it? The market will get even more cut throat.

Here’s another thing to throw in these new regulations for brokers. How about making factoring and quick pay illegal? Make everyone stand on their own two feet and make them have enough money to run for three months before the money starts coming in.

Or the broker could pay in 7 days like the current law says.

These highly intelligent individuals refuse to believe that's why brokers don't want to tell you what they're getting, they're absolutely convinced they keep that to themselves because they're crooks.
