I am not even so sure the rates have dropped all that much, I think the freight brokers need to be regulated or done away with completely. It is a sad day when the actual carrier who has trucks can't get the business anymore because some company hiring college kids who really know nothing about trucking are selling freight at ridiculous rates to the carrier. These companies skim so much off of the top, and then force the driver to break every safety regulation in place to try to make a living. The government keeps making it harder and harder for the owner operator to survive.
