What do you mean we must?
I am not the one in the sleeper pending loading/unloading but the one at home watching Miami Open tennis.
We almost went there for the Spring break but our favorite player withdrew, so did we.
I am comfy at home not desperate for any freight. The thing is, $1000 to Columbus and $500 back on 740 total miles is all there is while your $9000 on the same distance is in your own reality show.
We don't catch this big fish. We need to wait for a better shoal, meanwhile if we decide to throw our nets, minnows is all we can hope to get and make the best of it.

I think it’s probably a 1998 century with the dash busted out.

But he doesn’t have down time because that only counts when you’re out of town.

So it is ok for an owner operator to sell a truck for what the market says. Why did you question Long FLD when he was talking about selling his new truck for a profit?

Whatever makes you feel better. Or adds more splendor to your sitting in your nice new truck, there at the warehouse on Sunday afternoon.
I still spend between $15k - $20k per year on maintenance and repairs. Maybe it will make you feel a little more satisfied.
I don't know...yet....maybe the next truck. I'll get will be a brand new but will I have to sit in it on Sunday afternoon...that's what I'd like to avoid, you see.

I spent yesterday at the beach. It was a beautiful 85 degree day. Even better watching the sunrise this morning with my cup of coffee listening to the waves.

It’s a hard life being stuck out on the road sometimes.

    Oh yeah...I remember that.
That's greed that did not occur.
He did not sell it, after all.
Hey, as to why I questioned that, there was at least a dozen of pages devoted to it, so why don't you.go back and reread it there, I mean I don't have time nor desire to be rewriting or rethinking it.
