You’re right, I don’t know. But you also don’t get a free pass to talk about greed when it’s only one way, and I know you’re excuse will be that the good rates for truckers are few and far between so greed is justified.
All I know is when I joined this site I was hauling livestock. It was fun to read the trials and tribulations of the general trucking population. Then after selling my truck at the end of 2016 I worked a couple jobs, traveled, took life easy, lived in Hawaii for 4 months. At the beginning of 2019 I decided to buy a truck again. The talk on this forum is the same as it is now. Broker transparency, greedy brokers, truckers don’t get paid enough, brokers take too much for not having skin in the game (even though they have plenty of skin in the game). I was trying to figure out what to do with a truck that didn’t involve hauling livestock. So I used my connections and got my foot in the door pulling a pneumatic and was making quite a bit more money than what others spoke of here. I then used those connections in order to buy a trailer during Covid so I could run feed ingredients while being exempt from the HOS. Then I sold that trailer and got on where I am now. Just because someone gives me loads because I’m a glorified company driver doesn’t mean I work differently than you. It could be argued that the way I got to where I am over the years was a smarter way than someone fighting for scraps on the load boards.
I may not be a carrier and according to you should have no say in what happens in the trucking world, but I do know my money has been consistent since 2019 and I don’t come on here crying every few years about how I should be privy to a business dealing that is none of my business. I’ll continue being a fake owner operator because that is what suits me. I’m happy with the life that it has provided me since 2011.
People have offered you suggestions on this site over the years and you’ve ignored it. Just like the Harrison glider a few years ago before truck prices got crazy.D.Tibbitt, Siinman and Jubal Early Times Thank this. -

Siinman Thanks this.

As far as you wishing me harm, you aimed an misfired somewhere at you neighbor's window.
I am a sonofabitch of a good cook, a restaurant would surely be something I could try myself at. It was suggested to me more than once. Actually, maybe it is not such a bad idea. -

As far as wishing you harm. Maybe the sarcasm was lost due to cultural differences. I’ll give you that.
The premise is the same though regardless of industry. You have to lose the mindset of just accepting whatever is offered you when you decide it’s time to leave. I don’t think you value yourself. You have practically said you have no pride. People are only going to pay the minimum you think you’re worth.Siinman Thanks this. -

There's nothing derogatory about your working where you are. That's good for you. You are doing good and that's all what matters but the fact is that you are not exposed to the emotional side of dealing with rates ups and downs and defining the greed element for that matter. The good time are too short and too sporadic to make it a counter argument - that is what you quite often here - to how o/o are complaining about the rates right now. There's not even any symmetry in it.
