I try to run at least 1500 per day every day I am out. Starting out it is like to be 2K a day and then goes down to average min 1500 a day. I go out normally for 5-8 sometimes 9 days at a time and come home. Spend a week home maybe two and sometimes 3 if need be. Then I start back over and do the same thing. Use that calculator and it will show you it adds up.

 

Ha Ha yes those are a pain in the butt. I never see anything worth going to Chicago land so only been in the area a few times that paid to dead head back home.

 

Who said I go out for 2 weeks at a time? I work 5-9 days at most and come home for a week or two or three sometimes. I would rather have pure home time instead of home for ten hours at most a night.

 

And also you assume that 2 dollar a mile is what everyone in a dry van makes all the time. Get out of your area and you can find better paying loads.

 

Ha Ha I did the home every night for so many years working in a shop. Did it for 15 years making 75K plus a year and worked 8-14 hours a day. Not much free time when working all day long. It wasn't horrible but once I got a taste of having no responsibility for working during the day for a week I never wanted to go back.

I also worked out in the oilfield for a few years and did the 120 plus hours every week for 3 weeks strait and then one week off. I enjoyed that week off more then just getting the weekends off when I worked at the other job. If I want to go do something during the day time I can go do it. Some people never get that opportunity and that is the reason I work for myself. I enjoy it more but not for everyone. I know my pup loves it since I can take him for 3-5 walks during the daytime and he gets lots of fresh air.

 

When I work I normally work very hard and only concentrate on work. I have a hard time winding down from work so it works better for me. When I get back I tend to enjoy family life more and don't take it for granted. Makes life more enjoyable to me so it works.

 

I think I took that load for $1300.
