That is not too bad of a deal in my eyes. Way more than they ever taught in my day. Balancing a check book was simple math and never worried about doing that.

Was told to leave and not come back the first week of sophomore year and shipped to Alaska. Made it for 8 months and snuck back to Oregon on my bike.

I was at the grocery store Saturday and I was thinking about that. I remember when everyone wrote a check at the grocery. Now we are programmed to wait for the beep to remove our card.

When I have to now I have to slow down and think about what I’m writing. Lol. Sure not as fast and easy as it used to be.

Remember the first credit card machines that they put your card in with the copy paper and then ran the roller over it to get an imprint?

    Me neither.

Ha Ha I had just lost my dad from cancer at 15. Moved to IA with my uncle and went to school for one semester. I was a young skinny kid with long hair, little stoner. The old school I went to all my life was a very small school K-12 200 kids. The new school was a larger school about 1000 kids 9-12th. Only one other kid in school had long hair and was my friend.

One of the football jocks was picking on him while we walked across the road to another class. So I interfered and called dude out and his parents was one of the big wigs in town. My uncle was the ex mayor as well so I had some pull at least. Anyways the kid meets me after school but decided to bring all his football jock buddies with him. So I decided to just deal with him another day but he had other plans. So he stood behind my car and I took off and he jumped on my car. Drove him down the road a few blocks away from all his friends and got out and beat his butt with a crow bar.

Messed his butt up real bad and put him in the hospital. Try to go back to the school next day and they tell me to leave and not come back. Go to leave and get arrested and go to jail for a few hours until uncle can come pick me up. I get out of everything because of him but got kicked out of that school for life. Next school was was 25 miles away and uncle wanted me to go to it and I said f it. Friend and I was at the Carnaval and decided to head out with them. Did that for almost a year till I was 17. Ha Ha.

You can dream all you want. None of it is practical. Start capping profits and expect yours to also be capped. Price fixing never works. Someone always manages to game the system. Great example a while back is Comcast Lobbying in my area to keep competitors out of their territory. Running adds on TV warning of impending doom for customers. They finally lost after all they’re efforts. The more competitors the better. Goes for Trucking too. The Fmsca wants only a few major Carriers. They can control a few much easier. Still justifying their existence. The Megas dream of being one of the few. They could control profits much easier. The Public and ourselves wound be the Losers. Right now the Trucking Industry us just getting stabilized and under Government control somewhat. Through a list of band aid, and a few new regulations, along with a constant streamlining of others. What we have is the result of the Wild West behavior following deregulation. They allowed it, as much as needed. Now they’re tightening up. It goes through cycles depending on need. I’m surprised they haven’t been cracking down on Carriers. They usually do when there’s no need for so many. When Trucks are scarce, they let them roll. It’s about money. Not mine, yours, or the Brokers, if anyone it’s about the Shippers, Consignees, Wholesalers, Retailers, and ultimately the Consumer. The goal is cheap availability of infrastructure to deliver products. It’s good for the overall economy. Don’t except anyone to care whether or not you make a profit. Someone will do the job, at a profit if you or I can’t. So be it. Last thing we need is more Bureaucracy if any kind. It only causes a whole new set of problems.
