775- 150 a day for the truck. =625 625- 50 a day for the trailer = 575 575 - .25 cpm for maintenance(92.50) = 482.50 482.50- 50 for loadboard and phone and internet for the day= 432.50 432.50- 250 for driver pay= 182.50 182.50- 54.75 for taxes= 127.50 let’s just go ahead and stop there. Your 775 a day isn’t jack ####. You basically have bought yourself a job at this point. Fuel isn’t your only cost
Who pays $150 a day for a truck. That's just silly. $50 a day for loadboard and internet? $250 doesn't count if it's your truck. $50 a day for a trailer?
Really? 150 a day x 21 = 3150 a month. That’s about what a new truck will cost you. If you can’t afford to purchase new equipment you are just playing at this. Even if you don’t have the payment you need to be squirreling that amount away.
What is silly is the fact that you are commenting on something you don’t know about. Have you ever been a motor carrier?
It does not matter that OH is ok freight wise. Coming back to Chicago is cheap no matter where you are coming from, so you gotta make your money on the outbound. If you do IL-OH-PA-IL, or IL-OH-OK-IL, that underpaying Monday outbound load is still gonna hurt you. Not living in Midwest, you also don't know typical outbound paying prices, so you made your calculations based on just a $$ number, without thinking about roundtrip or a triangle numbers and that's how the majority of people operate on spot market in this area. That Chicago to Columbus was paying $1000 years ago. TallJoe and broker both knew that's cheap and thats why TallJoe has made this thread I think
Actually @Jubal Early Times, there's roughly 30 days in a month. So, $4,500 or $54,000 a year. That's a plenty nice truck.
