I don't live in the Midwest, but I hauled a bunch in and out.
Like I said, last year you gave me $1,500, this year you offer me $1,000..... that would chap me too. But not bad enough to sit and hope for better.

If you want to embed a YouTube video, all you need to do is to copy and paste the http:// address of the video. If you go to YouTube, every video has an option of share or copy its link. You just paste it here and appears as embedded.

Really? The truck is available 30 days a month so that's what needs to be considered.
Seriously, Jubal..... not hatin' or trying to start anything with you or anyone else, but when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro......which means 21 days a month ain't gonna get it until this thing turns around.

It was always up to US to be successful and that meant doing whatever it took to make it work. And that was pretty cool because I always knew I could count on ME.....
Sounds like some folks need to revisit their business plan based on current conditions rather than what they want them to be or what was.
    Or not.

This seems right on the mark. The Owner Op is doing the work and therefore paid fairly. If a Crooked Broker sees otherwise thats on thei consciousness and it will eventually catch up to them sooner but usually later.

Tons if kiss ##### in todays world. Tons of fake smiles to your face but their always ready to stab you in the back. Dispatchers says they dont take favorites however when someone slips them cash or a bottle of bourbon ironically they obtain those better loads. Similar to some Brokers other bigger carriers get to know when their direct customers have slowed down.

So you can run every day? Never run out of hours and never run into a bad lane that took an extra day. Trucks never need maintenance And never take time off for the wife and kids? You’re dreaming and you are simply arguing to prevent yourself from looking foolish. Stop commenting on stuff you don’t know about. The only owner operating you have ever done was to be leased on with Schneider.

Of course, @Jubal Early Times - hey, chek this out, he is a motor carrier and you had better shut the hell up! lol - watches in envy as other poeple, yes - you were right - so many from Eastern Europe, are building their wealth and prosperity on nothing else but their work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. That's right...$1000 is what will I, an Eastern European, take and deliver with a $550 backhaul, and then perhaps repeat the process to be at $3100 on 1500 miles because that's what it takes to live my, coveted by him, mediocre life.
There are years that will leave you with 60k after expenses and years that will leave you with 150k after expenses. An entrepreneurial spirit does not allow to dismiss the lean years entirely.
I have own this truck 9 years out of which the last 6 as - hey check this out - A MOTOR CARRIER ! - I am sipping my espresso, not much concerned that after fuel and tolls by the next Sunday afternoon, I'll be left with...maybe $2000. That's a lot of money, compared to someone who sits at home the entire week!

Have you gotten that motor rebuilt yet? I knew for a while you were afraid to venture far.

That’s exactly right. The end result in the bank after fuel costs vs. the added aggravation. End up with $700 more in the Bank. maybe get home a bit later, after some hassle. Take a day off. Or DH home, end up with $250 less in the bank. The net difference is $950. The hell with what the actual per Mile rate was. Who cares?

No, not yet...it is working like a Swiss clock.
1 450 000 on it. Can you believe that? Oil pressure at 34 - 36 per KR scangage. No leakeage...it starts to burn oil after 10k miles, so, that's when I change it.
I don't think, I want to rebuild it. The plan is to yank the old one and throw a refurbished one with a warranty or ... get another truck. I'll see at the time.
If it only gave me some signs of imminent failure...I'd be more inclined to do it now.
But for now, I will keep enjoying no payments on it. I see it as cutting the coupons.
That's prudent, don't you agree Jubi?

    Siinman and Rideandrepair Thank this.

Good. Maybe it’ll allow you to save up for a new er one. At 100 dollars profit per load you’ll be there in no time.
