IF i get a rate im happy with, who cares? But lets be realistic, that 2500$ load is now 1500, but its probably near 750 miles, so while there are people that are hauling at 2$/mile, and they think theyre happy, theyre putting themselves in a hole/out of buisness.
Currently On 750 miles, i wouldnt be taking the 1500 to move it without some very narrow circumstances

Yep... I also have brokers authority along with my carrier authority. It is an additional revenue stream. It provides additional capacity to my direct customers as the needed. Its not a big money maker.

It's pretty simple.... If a broker's quote does not work for you.... Don't haul the load. That's the beauty of calling your own shots.

    My goodness. Arn't you exegerating.
You were delicatly told about having the audacity to question someone's indignation of brokers' greed while you are in no position to experience that greed yourself.

Wow. You can't be serious! If you are, then you are even more insincere, or sarcastic than he is.
The poor guy was told he had no exposure to rates ups and downs and the undeniable imbalances of what good and bad times mean for owner operators vs good and bad times for brokers, yet he questoned someone's integrity who experienced it on his own skin for the last 6 years. And all of sudden, by that remark he was reduced to the role of a steering wheel holder?! Really!?!

Well, the hell with that, I am a steering wheel holder, he is and you are. So is @Jubal Early Times and anybody else who owns and operates one truck and trailer. Anything, that makes someone feel better than that is purely delusional.
I am sorry to interject but I could not resist.

I’m not actually hold my steering wheel. More like resting both hands on it. Ive held it enough to put calluses on my left hand, That’s how I know I’ve been out too long. Well needing to trim my toenails while on the road is another reminder. Either way. I’ve got my steering wheel. I’m in the club. Whoop Whoop!! Yeee haw!! Ooohhh! I’m a less broke Truckdriver than you are. Give me a ####ing break.

If I were to account for the time of where my hands were put in the last 21 years at all, the steering wheel wins.
I am a motor carrier steering wheel holder.

My Dad had me up on his lap holding the wheel at 4 yrs old. My destined fate was decided that day.

I just want to point out as a side broker…. When my customer calls me I’m 95% the load will get picked up and moved on time, that’s what they’re paying for.

I got a call 45 minutes from one of my customer needing 3 oversize trucks out on a location at 8am - he can count on me to get those out there whether they’re mine or in this case, 3 trucks I have to farm out.

kemosabi49, Siinman, Long FLD and 2 others Thank this.
